Ten trusted channels should not demand ten hours a week

Conference talks, release streams, tutorials, and tool reviews are useful only when the signal is worth the time it takes to find it.

THE OLD LOOP

  2. Open every video
  3. Scrub the timeline
  4. Decide if it matters
WITH VIDEOBRIEF
  1. Follow once
  2. Receive the brief
  3. Scan the signal
  4. Watch only when it is worth it

Questions about VideoBrief

No account is required to summarize an eligible YouTube video. A free account is required to save channel and topic follows, use Brief Feed, and receive email briefs.

VideoBrief works where you already watch. You can summarize the open video, search its transcript, and follow its channel without copying URLs into another tab.

Follow a YouTube channel from the VideoBrief panel. When that channel publishes a new video, VideoBrief processes the available transcript and sends a ready-made brief by email. You can unsubscribe from a channel using the link in the email.

VideoBrief requires captions provided by YouTube, either generated automatically or added by the creator. If captions are unavailable, transcript-based processing cannot run.

VideoBrief is free to install and includes free usage. Usage limits vary by account status and plan. You can try a one-off summary without signing up.

Anything grounded in the video content. For example: "What is the speaker's main argument?", "Give me 3 action items from this", "Write a Slack update based on this video", "Explain this for a non-technical manager", "What tools were mentioned?". The AI answers based only on what was actually said in the video — it does not guess or add outside information.

A general AI chat requires you to find and provide the source material. VideoBrief works inside YouTube, retrieves timestamped captions, keeps answers connected to the video, monitors followed sources, and prepares briefs when new videos appear.

A YouTube subscription tells you that a video exists. A VideoBrief follow gives you the summary and takeaways so you can decide whether the video deserves your attention.

No. The extension does not request Chrome’s browsing history permission. It runs on YouTube pages and communicates with the VideoBrief API to provide its features.

Yes. The transcript tab lets you search for any word, topic, tool, or name mentioned in the video. Each result links to the exact timestamped segment so you can jump to the right moment immediately.

You can select the output language for AI summaries and chat responses inside the extension — independently of the video language. The transcript itself is in the language of the video captions, which depends on what YouTube provides for that video.

VideoBrief processes the text transcript to generate AI output and does not download video or audio files. The Privacy Policy explains what data is stored, why it is processed, and which service providers are involved.

VideoBrief is currently available as a Google Chrome extension built for Manifest V3.
